OUR STORE — REFUND & RETURN POLICY

RETURN WINDOW

We accept returns within 30 days of the delivery date. To be eligible, your item must be unworn, unwashed, and in its original condition with all tags attached. Returns requested after the 30-day window cannot be accepted.

HOW TO START A RETURN

Email us at support@yourstore.com with your order number and the reason for your return. We will reply within one business day with return instructions and the return address. Please do not send your purchase back without contacting us first — unrequested returns cannot be tracked to your order and may delay your refund.

RETURN SHIPPING

You are responsible for the cost of return shipping. We recommend using a trackable shipping service, as we cannot issue refunds for returns that are lost in transit.

REFUNDS

Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method. Once we receive and inspect your return, we will process the refund within 5 business days. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it may take an additional 5-10 business days for the funds to appear on your statement.

SALE ITEMS

Sale and discounted items follow the same return policy as full-priced items and are eligible for a refund.

EXCHANGES

The fastest way to get the item you actually want is to return the original for a refund and place a new order. If you received a defective or damaged item, contact us at support@yourstore.com and we will send a replacement at no cost to you.

DAMAGED, DEFECTIVE, OR WRONG ITEMS

Inspect your order when it arrives. If anything is damaged, defective, or not what you ordered, email us within 7 days of delivery with a photo and your order number. We will make it right with a replacement or a full refund — including shipping — at no cost to you.

NON-RETURNABLE ITEMS

For hygiene and safety reasons, we cannot accept returns on gift cards, or on personalized and made-to-order items, unless they arrive damaged or defective.

QUESTIONS

Anything unclear? Email us at support@yourstore.com — a real person reads every message, and we usually reply within one business day.

Why every Shopify store needs a clear refund policy

"Can I return this?" and "where is my refund?" are two of the most common emails a Shopify store ever receives — right behind "where is my order?". A vague or missing policy doesn't make those questions go away; it multiplies them. Every customer who can't find your return window on your site sends you an email instead, and every ambiguous answer turns into a back-and-forth thread. A clear policy answers the question before it's asked, which is why stores that publish one see refund-related tickets drop immediately.

It also protects your revenue. When a customer disputes a charge, card networks and payment processors look at whether you published a clear refund policy and whether you followed it. A store with a visible, specific policy wins chargeback disputes that a store with a boilerplate paragraph loses. And if you sell to the EU or UK, a compliant policy isn't optional — consumer law grants a 14-day right of withdrawal, and your policy needs to say so.

What a good refund policy includes

The essentials: your return window in days, the condition items must be in, who pays return shipping, how refunds are issued and how long they take, how sale items are treated, and exactly how a customer starts a return. Specific numbers beat vague promises — "refunds are processed within 5 business days" prevents the follow-up email that "refunds are processed promptly" invites. The generator above covers all of it, in plain language customers actually read. For the reasoning behind each section, see our full guide on how to write a refund policy for Shopify.

Where to publish it in Shopify

Paste your policy in Settings → Policies → Return and refund policy in your Shopify admin — Shopify links it in your checkout automatically. Then add it to your footer menu and link it from your FAQ and product pages, so customers find it before they email you.

Frequently asked questions

Is this refund policy generator really free?

Yes — completely free, no signup, no email required. Fill in the form, copy your policy, and paste it into Shopify. It's a free tool from EllaReply, the AI support manager for Shopify brands.

Where do I add a refund policy in Shopify?

In your Shopify admin, go to Settings, then Policies, and paste your policy into the Return and refund policy field. Shopify automatically links it in your checkout footer. Most stores also add it as a page in the footer menu so customers can find it before they buy.

Is a refund policy legally required for a Shopify store?

In many regions, yes — and everywhere, it protects you. EU and UK consumer law grants customers a 14-day right of withdrawal for most online purchases, and card networks expect a published policy when they judge chargeback disputes. Tick the EU/UK option in the generator to include the required withdrawal paragraph.

Does a clear return policy actually reduce support tickets?

Dramatically. Refund and return questions are one of the biggest categories of support email for Shopify brands. A policy that states the window, the shipping cost, and the refund method up front answers most of those questions before they're ever sent — and gives you a ready-made answer for the rest.
